HI!

bee happy
For those of you who don't know, I spend far more time blogging here:

http://writertypepeople.blogspot.com

and to a lesser extent here:

http://scdgirl.blogspot.com

I should post here more often, but I don't. I might though, if things start happening with projects and things that I can't really talk about in public.

What else? Um. I feel like Jeffrey and I have never worked this hard. We're pretty much killing ourselves to finish this script. That's good. We knew everything up until Comic Con was going to be really, really busy. And it is.

We've met our Kickstarter goal for Dixie. If we get to $2300 everyone is going to get an embroidered Brassy Battalion patch! I'm actually pretty excited about that. :)

OK, I think I'll go back to lurking and being tired. Happy Friday everyone!

Friends list cut down

bee happy
For anyone interested, I have cut down on my friends list a bit. Too much noise and I'm finding it discourages me from posting, as I spend so much time reading.

Then again, I wonder if I will ever post here more often. I don't use LJ the way I used to; maybe it's because I don't need it as much, any more.

Knitter folk

black as my soul
OK, so I want to make this Lace Ribbon Scarf here, and is it just me, or is that the most effed up chart you've ever seen?

I have NEVER seen a chart that said, "K on RS, P on WS" and even if I had seen it on some other chart, on this one it is guaranteed to confuse you.

ETA: OK maybe I have seen that but if you look at the chart and the written instructions, they are not the same.

And then the repeat... well, it's full of white squares, so where do I knit and where do I purl, again? LAME.

So please, knitting friends, if I am not making sense, enlighten me.

Techie geek smart phone help

geek
OK people, I need your assistance.

I want a phone (or other small device) that has the ability to connect to the Internet from anywhere. That is pretty much all I need it for.

I do almost everything in Gmail and I do not really want to check my work e-mail on this particular device, unless there's a web interface available, in which case I would check it via browser.

Now I DO sometimes want to download/view a Word document or PDF, throw some comments on there or edit it, and then reattach it to a message in my Gmail.

Other than that, I want to be able to access Facebook and Twitter, and again, that's more of a web browsing sort of thing.

So. What kind of options do I have? What kind of device and data plan would be an economical choice?

Sock knitting

geek
So I'm posting about knitting instead of actually knitting, because my hands need the break. See how good I am?

Anyway, I might have mentioned that I found the sock pattern for the pair of socks I started knitting years ago. And I have since knitted a couple more stripes through the ribbed portion.

Well, it's clear that back then, I knitted a LOT tighter than I do now. So much so that it's obvious. Now it's ribbing, so it's not going to make much difference through that portion, but once I get to the foot, which is stockinette, it will definitely make a difference.

I was using size 2 needles and since I noticed the difference in the ribbing, I decided to measure my gauge on the stockinette portion.

And my gauge is a very surprising 8 and a half stitches per inch.

Those're some tight socks right there.

So anyway, you may be thinking, why don't I just go down to size 1 or 0 DPNs?

Because I just dug through my needle stash, and I don't have any. HAHA.

Anyway, perhaps I will put the sock on break for now. Because let's face it, money is something I don't have much of right now. And I doubt Michael's carries size 1 DPNs. Mrar.

grain free bread

geek
I finally posted the awesome grain free bread recipe I've been using here. Woo!

tomato zucchini eggs

geek
This is extremely fast food!

Olive oil
1 dozen eggs
4-5 small scallions
2-3 plum tomatoes
1-2 small zucchini
oregano
thyme
garlic powder
salt
pepper

Pour a little olive oil in a large nonstick pan. While the skillet is heating, chop the scallions. Add to the hot pan. Chop the tomatoes and zucchini next (you can peel the zucchini if you want) and add to the pan.

Stir. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, and thyme. Cook for another minute or so.

Add eggs. Stir with spatula to incorporate. Keep stirring and turning until eggs are cooked. Taste and salt again if necessary.

Done! I may add a bit of cheese next time. Not too much though. Just a sprinkle.

Sustainability of meat

geek
The good people at Fitness Spotlight are doing a series of articles on the sustainability of meat-eating -- as in, could it be done to feed the masses without feeding animals crappy corn and soy?

It's very thoughtful and it's over here if you'd like to take a look.
